A new tax for tourists is introduced in Almaty

Almaty authorities have decided to introduce a new fee for foreign tourists coming to the city.

Almaty is the largest city and tourist center of Kazakhstan. The metropolis itself is very interesting from a cultural and historical point of view. There are many natural attractions around: Charyn Canyon, Shymbulak ski resort, mountain lakes.

In 2022, the number of tourists in the city increased by 2.8 times compared to last year, exceeding 200 thousand people.

Therefore, from January 1, the authorities introduce a new fee of 5% for foreigners for staying in the city. Tourists will pay for it directly at the hotels.
