Cyprus will lose $600 million without Russian tourists

Cyprus Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios said that this year, without Russian tourists, the island's economy will lose 600 million euros.

Until the February events, the government hoped that the tourist flow from Russia this year would exceed the pre-pandemic. In 2019, Russian guests accounted for 20% of the total number of foreign tourists in Cyprus.

Cyprus Hotel Association President Garis Loizides confirms that hotels are severely underloaded without Russians. This is especially noticeable on the east coast, for example in Protaras.
