A play of colors makes this place even more magical
Magic Karelia. Winter illumination turned on in Ruskeala Park
The popular Ruskeala mountain park in Karelia, from November 1, switched to winter operation.
Since ice has risen in the quarries filled with water, boat trips here stop until spring. But now every evening the illumination of the Marble Canyon will turn on. The play of colors creates an incredible impression and makes this place even more magical.
Ruskeala Park (from the Finnish Ruskeala, “brown”) is located in the Sortavalsky district of the Republic of Karelia near the border with Finland. Before the revolution, there was a marble quarry here. Most of the palaces and temples of St. Petersburg are decorated with local marble.
