The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has compiled a list of holidays in Turkey that Russian tourists should take into account when planning a vacation.

The largest celebration in the country is the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This holiday is known as Ramadan Bayram, Eid al-Fitr, Uraza Bayram, Sheker Bayram, Kurban Ait, Oraza Ait. This year the celebration will take place on April 20-23. Tourists are not advised to come to rest in Turkey these days. On holidays, queues and large crowds of people are usually everywhere.

In addition, April 23 is widely celebrated in Turkey as the Day of National Sovereignty and the Protection of Children. Local residents also take to the streets and do not work, which may confuse some tourists.

On June 28, another Muslim holiday will be celebrated – Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Adha. On this day, animals are sacrificed, mostly sheep, which scares away many foreigners. Banks and enterprises do not work, and shops and restaurants open only in the evening.
