“Second Sochi” decided to build in Dagestan

The authorities of the Russian Federation have decided on the place of creation of a new large resort, similar to Sochi. Earlier, such plans were announced in the Federal Tourism Agency.

Now, as “Kommersant” writes, officials have chosen the site of the future resort. This will be the Kayakentsky district of Dagestan, halfway from Makhachkala to Derbent. The head of the region, Sergei Melikov, came up with this idea at a meeting with presidential aide Igor Levitin.

The Federal Tourism Agency also considers this place suitable: there is a wide sandy beach, a warm sea with a good bottom, and a mild climate.

According to experts, we are talking about creating from scratch a hotel complex with an area of ​​200 hectares (300 football fields) for 30,000 rooms. The cost of the project is 300 billion rubles. As in Sochi, both sea and mountain tourism are planned.
