Worse than during the pandemic: the number of foreign tourists in Russia is approaching zero. What is the reason?
The number of foreigners who came to Russia in the second quarter of 2022 was 3 .08 million people. This is 36,000 less than in the same period of 2021, when restrictions related to the pandemic were in effect around the world and in the Russian Federation.
Out of the total number of foreigners who arrived in April-July, only 23.8 thousand (0.7%) named tourism as the purpose of their visit. The rest are labor migrants or relatives of Russians from the CIS countries.
In the same months of pre-Covid 2019, there were 1.5 million foreign tourists in the Russian Federation. That is, the tourist flow to Russia fell 63 times.< /p>
